Hello, I’m Maria,
registered dietitian & clinical gut-directed
hypnotherapist

I bring over 20 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian, having started my career in weight management at the University of Milan. In recent years, I have specialised in gastroenterology within the NHS, supporting individuals with complex digestive conditions such as Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and Coeliac disease.

My passion lies in understanding and addressing Disorders of Gut–Brain Interaction (DGBI). I have extensive experience with the low FODMAP diet for IBS and in helping clients navigate the emotional and behavioural aspects that often accompany chronic digestive symptoms. To complement my dietetic practice, I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, specialising in gut-directed hypnotherapy to support anxiety, pain management, and behaviour change. This integrative approach enables me to offer holistic, evidence‑based care for those living with gut‑related conditions.

Why The Somnio?

Somnio means to dream,
to daydream, trance, in Latin.

A blue spiral pattern on a black background.

Trance is when the two minds, the conscious and subconscious, come together in focus.

You are then able to access the subconscious mind and that vast intellectual resource, enabling you to get the very best out of yourself. Understanding human needs and ensuring that these needs are met within the context of everyday living is the strategy to maintain positive emotional and physical health.

The brain and gut are constantly communicating. Hypnotherapy has a proven track record in helping people better manage gut-related conditions such as IBS.
